Hilary specialises in International Family Law, Extradition, Human Rights, International Criminal Law and Public International Law.
Hilary is a highly experienced family practitioner across three jurisdictions and receives instructions in all three. She covers all areas of family law and the court of protection. She embraces both financial and children and regularly receives international instruction. She provides advice to local authorities on international children law matters relating to Article 15 Brussels II revised and internationally when the placement of a child in a foreign jurisdiction is being pursued. She advises and represents private clients in child relocation and child abductions before the High Court in London and Dublin.
Hilary acts for a wide range of matrimonial financial clients in particular high net-worth as well as modest clients with complex financial arrangements. Some cases involve large property portfolios in several countries including USA, Australia, Nigeria, India, Turkey, Portugal and Spain. She has appeared in the High Court in a number of very high value ancillary relief applications and receives instructions in property disputes between unmarried partners under ToLATA. In care proceedings she represents local authorities, parents, intervenors and the Met Police involving children who have suffered long term neglect and sexual abuse.
In Ireland Hilary has conducted over 250 family law divorces and judicial separations. She regularly appears in the High Court and Supreme Court.
Hilary regularly delivers CPD lectures to Barristers and Solicitors' firms and speaks at various conferences and seminars internationally. She has just completed a family law course delivered over 3 months to Shearman & Sterling LLP, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, Reed Smith, Ropes & Gray LLP, Travers Smith and Gibson Dunn.
