Artis Kakonge is a barrister who, since being called to the Bar in 2006, has built a diverse practice across family law, Court of Protection matters and professional discipline and regulatory proceedings. With over 15 years in private practice and senior roles in local-government children's services, she brings specialist insight into child welfare, adoption, guardianship and safeguarding. She holds an Executive MBA with Distinction from CASS Business School, where she was the first recipient of the Coca-Cola Global Women's Leadership Scholarship, business acumen that supports her work in cohabitation law, financial remedies and asset distribution. Family, cohabitation and divorce
Artis advises and represents individuals through relationship breakdown, and parents, step-parents, grandparents and other relatives on arrangements in a child's best interests. She acts in disputes over child arrangements, contact, residence and relocation (including international relocation), and in child abduction cases before the High Court under the Hague Convention and in non-Convention jurisdictions. She assists with special guardianship and contested adoption, and with surrogacy, parental orders and fertility law. In financial remedies she secures fair settlements that protect business interests, investments and other high-value assets, with careful attention to asset tracing and valuation.
Court of Protection
She is an experienced advocate in both health-and-welfare and property-and-affairs applications, representing individuals, local authorities, health bodies and the Official Solicitor, including deprivation of liberty, medical treatment and best-interests decisions, capacity to engage in sexual relations, contested deputyship, and revocation of lasting powers of attorney.

She represents registered professionals, including nurses, midwives and social workers, in fitness-to-practise proceedings before the Nursing and Midwifery Council and Social Work England, at interim, substantive and review hearings.
