Cookie Policy
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies we use on our website, what they do, and how you can control them.

What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit it. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, work in much the same way. They let a website remember your actions and preferences, and help its owners understand how the site is used.
Your choices
When you first visit our website, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Until you choose Accept, we do not set any analytics cookies, and no analytics data is collected about your visit. If you choose Reject, only the strictly necessary storage described below is used.
We use Google’s Consent Mode, which means analytics remains switched off by default and is only enabled once you accept. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser, which will make the banner appear again, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.
The categories we use
- Strictly necessary: required for the website to work and to remember your cookie choice. These do not require your consent.
- Functional: remember actions you take, such as the barristers you add to your shortlist or have recently viewed. These are stored on your device only and are set in response to things you do.
- Analytics: help us understand how visitors use the website so we can improve it. These are only used with your consent.
The specific cookies and storage we use
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
mb-consent | Strictly necessary | Remembers your cookie choice (accept or reject) so we do not ask again on every page. Stored in your browser’s local storage. | Until you clear it |
| Shortlist & recently viewed | Functional | Remember the barristers you shortlist or recently viewed, so those features work as you move around the site. Stored in your browser’s local storage. | Until you clear it |
_ga | Analytics (Google Analytics 4) | Distinguishes one visitor from another so we can measure usage. Only set after you accept. | 2 years |
_ga_<id> | Analytics (Google Analytics 4) | Maintains session state for Google Analytics. Only set after you accept. | 2 years |
We use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation enabled. Google processes this data on our behalf; for more information see Google’s own privacy and cookie information.
Managing cookies in your browser
Most browsers let you see what cookies are stored and delete or block them. You can usually find these controls in your browser’s settings or preferences menu. Blocking strictly necessary storage may stop parts of the website working as intended.
