About Barnaby
Barnaby Hope is a barrister who assists both personal and business clients in all matters concerning legal costs, alongside professional negligence and commercial work. He appears regularly in the High Court and the Senior Courts Costs Office, as well as the County Court. Having worked for a national solicitors' firm specialising in costs, he has experience of both sides of the profession, and his expertise in insolvency law allows him to advise where the financial position of a receiving or paying party is uncertain.
His costs specialisms include solicitor, own-client costs; costs management and budgeting; summary and detailed assessments; funding (retainers, CFAs, DBAs and insurance); orders for costs, including indemnity costs and the operation of Part 36; and fixed costs. Although an advocate by profession, his goal is to find the most cost-effective and least stressful solution to a problem, recognising that litigation is not always the answer.
He came to the Bar in 2011 after four years in a national solicitors' firm as an advocate, combining a wealth of experience with a business-focused attitude.
My approach
