About Gail
Gail Farrington is a barrister with a wealth of experience across all aspects of family law, and a particular commitment to assisting families at inquest. Called to the Bar in 2011, she practised in Nottingham for ten years before returning to her home city of Hull, and is the only barrister in Hull recognised in the Legal 500 for Inquests and Inquiries. She is also deputy head of her chambers' Court of Protection team, where she represents local authorities in welfare cases, and serves as Vice President of the Hull Incorporated Law Society.
My approach
Having personal experience of attending the coroner's court, Gail understands how difficult the loss of a loved one is, and approaches each case sensitively while giving clear, straightforward advice.
Notable cases
Her inquest work has included representing a mother whose son died of a drug overdose amid concerns about the adequacy of the police investigation; a family whose father died after a fall in a care home and subsequent choking linked to records that did not follow him to the ward; a client at the inquest into a car accident that killed five family members, where the coroner found the poor state of the road contributed; a family at the inquest into a death initially treated as murder but found to be suicide; an Article 2 inquest on behalf of a prison officer; and a father in the High Court seeking exhumation of his daughter's body.
