About Ian

Ian Wright is an employment barrister with many years' experience advising and representing employees and workers in the employment tribunals, the Employment Appeal Tribunal and the higher courts. He has accepted public access work, both litigation and advisory, for more than five years, with a particular emphasis on unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing, TUPE disputes and harassment claims.

He advises employees from the earliest stages of a dispute, assisting with preparation for disciplinary and grievance hearings and helping to resolve workplace issues before they escalate to dismissal. Where employment has ended, he advises on potential claims and their value, drafts the claim and assists with case management through to settlement or final hearing, and can advise on the merits of an appeal where a claim has been lost. Based in London and living near Cambridge, he has clients across Great Britain and abroad and regularly travels, having appeared in tribunals from Inverness to Exeter and Carlisle to Ashford.

My approach

Ian responds the same day, offers an initial discussion of around 30 minutes at no charge, and meets clients face to face where helpful. He sets out the cost of any work in advance in a client care letter, does no chargeable work until terms are agreed, and works promptly to achieve a commercial outcome.
