Nisha specialises in family law and has a busy practice representing clients in private and public law matters.
In private children law, she is a shrewd negotiator and adept at finding creative solutions to child arrangements in the context of complex acrimonious relationships. She is experienced in conducting First Hearing Dispute Resolution Appointments, Dispute Resolution Appointments, contested Interim and Fact-Finding/or Final Hearings in applications for s.8 Orders, Special Guardianship Orders, enforcement of contact and leave to remove cases (including where there is an intractable contact dispute). Her interpersonal skills are a particular strength in this area, enabling her to establish a rapport with clients and opponents alike.
Matters concerning domestic violence are of a particular interest to Nisha after spending time practising in the criminal courts. She is an astute cross-examiner in respect of alleged victims and perpetrators and regularly represents clients at final hearings in applications concerning non-molestation and occupation orders. She is often commended by her clients for being empathetic yet professional at all times.
In public law proceedings, Nisha has a strong ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds (including clients with learning difficulties). She has experience in conducting Case-Management Hearings, contested Interim Care Order Hearings, Fact-Finding and Final Hearings. Nisha has represented Local Authority’s, parents and Guardians in cases involving Deprivation of Liberty Orders and where there have been allegations of domestic violence, mental health concerns, substance misuse, neglect in addition to physical and sexual abuse.
Nisha also has a keen interest and experience in issues relating to forced marriages, honour-based violence and international jurisdictional matters including relocation and applications for contact pursuant to Article 21 of the 1980 Hague Convention.
She also has experience in a wide range of matters including: crime, extradition law and regulatory law (including General Medical Council hearings). She is committed to human rights and has undertaken internships and worked with various international/national NGO’s and organisations which include: The United Nations, The African Prison’s Project, The Lawyers Collective Women’s Right Initiative and the Monitoring Group. Nisha is also an active member of the Society of Black Lawyers.

She was awarded funding by Lincoln’s Inn to undertake an internship with the United Nations in respect of a high-profile trial arising out of the Rwandan genocide.
Nisha was awarded funding by Lincoln’s Inn in order to undertake a one-month internship, on a pro-bono basis, with the African Prison Project (APP) based in Kampala, Uganda.
