Michael Reason

I represent creditors, directors and shareholders in the Insolvency and Companies Court including:

drafting and advising on creditors winding up petitions,

advised on probable outcomes of disputes based on briefs of facts and analysis of precedents, interpretation of financial accounts and accounting standards applicable to disputes and circumstances,

I have drafted numerous civil claims, defences’ and counterclaims including third party notices and derivative actions.

I assist with equitable claims, claims regarding contracts, landlord and tenant claims, disputes with governments such as tax appeals and claims for access to information and judicial review.

Having been a practicing solicitor before switching to the bar, I have extensive experience with drafting documents including agreements, evidence, submissions, correspondence and a wide range of administrative matters.

My approach

I am hard working and versatile. I prefer to take cases from an early stage as good preparation is essential for the best possible outcome at trial. I like to work as a team with clients and other advisors but also as a direct access counsel for the lay client directly.

I have experience advising on complex issues and dealing with difficult, urgent and controversial matters.
