I have over 30 years of advocacy experience and have appeared as advocate and dispute resolution lawyer in numerous civil matters in England and New Zealand

Substantial trust, constructive and resulting trust and estate advocacy including recent HC advocacy; acted for and against trustees of testate and intestate estates, against creditors for orders joining spouse as constructive trust beneficiary of sole spouse registered property.

Acted in numerous interlocutory matters including directions and case management, specific disclosure, overseas evidence gathering by depositions, injunctions pending trial, summary judgement, security for costs, orders for accounting & appointed Judicial Trustees.

Represented creditors in the companies winding up court including application for creditors’ claims to be consolidated

Various Judicial Review proceedings against government departments regarding housing, immigration and licencing related decisions

Companies Act/chancery litigation between shareholders for unfair prejudice against minority; appointed receiver and management of international companies.

Acted for a company in obtaining an order voiding a lease and development rights “granted” to the director’s wholly owned company and rectifying the land title.

Trustee Act claim for the removal of a trustee in the NZ HC

Represented a note holder in an international bond issue in which the issuer was involved in extensive overseas litigation against the non-UK borrower security/obligor

Acting for a UK taxpayer appealing HMRC’s refusal to grant Value Added Tax (VAT) eligible body clearance including drafting review application, preparation of clients supporting documents, briefed QCs to lead, research and advice. I have advised HMRC on a New Zealand trust law matter in which IHT was claimed following a lifetime transfer.

Advised on probable outcomes of disputes based on briefs of facts and analysis of precedents.

Drafted numerous civil claims and defences’ including third party actions.

Acted in numerous enforcement proceedings including bankruptcy, winding up, oral examination, garnishee, attachment, writs of fieri facias, charging order, order for possession, order for sale, interpleader and registration in foreign jurisdictions.

My approach

As a direct access private practitioner, and former solicitor, I am accustomed to dealing with lay clients directly, gathering and assembling relevant evidence and documents and dealing with solicitors and courts in preparation for hearings or negotiations

I have a range of experience acting for individuals and companies resolving disputes including debt claims, insolvency issues and corporate, trust and agency disputes.

A main area of practice is advising on and resolving tax including VAT disputes 

I assist company shareholders and trust beneficiaries resolve governance disputes through the courts.
