Muhammad Umar Malik

Muhammad's practice areas include Commercial, Civil, Family, Immigration and Employment. Muhammad regularly appears before Deputy and District judges for commercial and civil claims as well as Employment Tribunals, First Tier and Upper Tribunals on substantive Immigration and Asylum appeals. Muhammad also heads an OISC regulated Immigration and Asylum practice. Muhammad’s family practice includes child arrangements, specific issues, prohibited steps, non-molestation and occupation orders.

Muhammad has a strong drafting practice with the ability to draft clear, concise and persuasive legal documents to protect his client’s interests. Muhammad is based in the North, however, he accepts instructions nationwide, including for cases in London.

Muhammad brings extensive advocacy experience, having successfully represented both the claimants and defendants at various levels and complexity of cases. He appears before deputy, district and tribunal judges on a regular basis. Muhammad's multilingual ability undoubtedly provides him with a significant advantage in understanding and representing clients especially those from the Asian subcontinent. His ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages, allows him to forge deeper connections with his clients, gain a more nuanced understanding of their cultural backgrounds, and effectively advocate for them by protecting and promoting their best interest.

Muhammad is also a certified mediator and provides mediation services in civil and commercial disputes. Muhammad possesses excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills, with a focus on achieving excellent results for all parties involved.

About me

Muhammad was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2018 and possesses a unique and diverse range of skills and experience. He is an extremely sharp and avid advocate with a winning mentality. 

Muhammad comes from a very limited new generation of barristers who have advanced technical proficiency as well as a sharp legal mind, giving him a cutting-edge and significant advantage over conventional barristers. Prior to being called to the Bar, Muhammad worked in the public and private sectors as an Infrastructure and Cybersecurity specialist for over 17 years. Muhammad's technical proficiency gives him an added advantage and ability to analyse and assimilate technical and legal issues. This is a valuable asset in today's technologically advanced world, where technology is increasingly being used in the legal system and cases are won on fine margins.

Outside of law, Muhammad enjoys sports and travelling. He is a keen cricketer and plays recreational cricket in his local league as well as being Chairman of his local cricket club. Muhammad is also passionate about charitable work and is regularly involved in charitable activities within the UK and abroad.   Muhammad is fluent in English, Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi with basic proficiency in Arabic.

INTERESTS

Sports: Muhammad enjoys cricket, squash and football. He is the chairman and captain of his cricket club which is part of Dales Council Cricket League in Bradford.

Forex Trading: Muhammad also have an interest in forex trading and crypto currency.

Fitness: Muhammad likes to work out and is an active member of Nuffield Health gym.

Travel: Muhammad enjoy travelling and learning about new cultures.

Charitable Work: Muhammad has a passion for charitable work. He is a trustee of a charity called The IHR and provide financial support and assistance to a number of charities in various projects.
