Jack Monroe, the food blogger, who last week won a libel action against the Daily Mail columnist Katie Hopkins has said she would be happy to sit down with Ms Hopkins over dinner because she told The Guardian she “bore no ill will” against Ms Hopkins. “I would happily sit down and talk as adults,” Ms Monroe said.

Ms Monroe was awarded damages of £24,000, following an exchange of tweets in which Ms Hopkins inferred that Ms Monroe approved of defacing a war memorial.

Mr Justice Warby found that Ms Hopkins’s tweets were defamatory and that there had been damage to Ms Monroe’s reputation “albeit not very serious or grave”.

The case has interested many legal observers as helping define the law of libel in the context of Twitter.
