Changez Khan

Are you managing a difficult employee or feeling aggrieved by an unfair employer? Are you downsizing your workforce or even under threat of redundancy yourself? Is dismissal or discrimination an issue? I can help. I have won cases on both sides of the fence. I help businesses and HR tread carefully in sticky situations. I also represent employees robustly in the Employment Tribunal. If you are unsure about your legal rights and duties, or need someone to represent you at a hearing, then read on.

My approach

I am straightforward and no-nonsense. I also believe strongly in personal service. I will respond to your e-mail promptly and our first discussion is always free. After that, it is your choice whether you want to proceed. I like to save my clients money, so will quote you a capped, fixed price wherever possible. If it is not worth your money going to court, then I will say so. We can always broker a favourable compromise agreement or exit package early on. I realise that cost, time, stress and business reputation can be just as important to my clients as winning. We can often achieve the best outcome for you by boxing cleverly.

My work

My employer clients have included: a university, an airline, transport companies, an investment fund, care homes and several family-run businesses.

My employee clients have included: sales managers, surveyors, police officers, teachers, IT consultants and recruitment agents. I draft claim forms/ responses; give considered advice; and represent parties at hearings.

My recent highlights have been appearing as sole counsel before the higher courts, including the Employment Appeal Tribunal and the Court of Appeal. See: Bahous v Pizza Express Restaurants Ltd [2012] All ER (D) 191 (race discrimination) and R & R Plant Hire (Peterborough) Ltd v Bailey [2012] EWCA Civ 410 (age discrimination).
